1. Brush Walls Before You Vacuum
Always brush walls first — algae dislodged from walls settles on the floor where the vacuum picks it up cleanly. Vacuum first then brush and you're doing the job twice. The correct sequence is: skim surface → brush walls → vacuum floor → clear baskets.
2. Increase Frequency During Harmattan (November–March)
Fine Saharan dust falls across Ghana daily during Harmattan. It clouds water, coats wall surfaces with a film algae colonises, and makes pools look dirty within days of a clean. Increase cleaning frequency during Harmattan — or at minimum skim daily between professional visits.
3. Clean Within 24 Hours of Heavy Rain
Tropical rain washes leaves, soil and organic nutrients directly into your pool. This is algae food. Clean within 24 hours of any significant downpour. Don't wait for the next scheduled visit.
4. Never Let Your Pool Sit Unused for Weeks Without Cleaning
Even an unused pool in Ghana needs monthly cleaning minimum. Algae doesn't care whether anyone is swimming — it grows in warm, still water regardless.
5. Run Your Pump 8–12 Hours Daily
Circulation is as important as cleaning. Still water develops algae in corners and against walls regardless of how often the surface is skimmed. Run your pump through the hottest part of the day.
6. Scrub the Waterline on Every Clean
The waterline is the dirtiest part of any pool and the most neglected. Oils, sunscreen, organic scum and calcium scale all concentrate here. Scrub it individually on every single visit — not occasionally.
7. Protect Your Pump During Power Outages
Ghana's power fluctuations — especially voltage spikes when power returns — are hard on pool pumps. A voltage stabiliser on your pool equipment is a worthwhile investment that pays for itself in extended pump life.
8. Book a Professional Clean Before Events
Don't rely on your regular schedule before guests arrive. Book a dedicated event clean (GH₵ 400 at 60% off — was GH₵ 1,000) 2–3 days before, giving the pool time to settle and look its absolute best on the day.
9. Send a Photo After Every Clean
Whether you clean yourself or use a professional, keep a visual record. A WhatsApp photo after each clean gives you evidence the job was done and a baseline to compare water clarity against. AquaPure Ghana sends this on every single visit without being asked.
10. Switch to Professional Maintenance Before the First Green Pool
The best time to start professional maintenance is before your pool turns green for the first time — not after. Prevention at GH₵ 500/month (bi-weekly, 60% off) beats the GH₵ 500 recovery clean every time.
